The Old Seminole Heights Neighborhood Association (OSHNA) will present its 11th Annual Home Tour on Sunday, April 5, 2009. The Old Seminole Heights Annual Home Tour is the best-attended neighborhood home tour in the Tampa Bay area, typically attracting between 1,200 and 1,500 visitors each year.
As Tampa’s first suburb, Old Seminole Heights was platted in 1911, shortly after a trolley line connected the neighborhood to downtown Tampa. This year’s Tour showcases 13 historic properties from the “Early Years” of Old Seminole Heights, some of which date back to the late 1880’s.We are also proud to feature historic Hillsborough High School, a Gothic revival structure built in 1927.
The Tour is designed to allow visitors the opportunity to see nearly every section of the historic neighborhood, nestled in the heart of Tampa. Visitors are treated to an intimate insider’s view of Old Seminole Heights, and the homes that epitomize the charm of the community. Although the homes on the Tour reflect diverse architectural styles, Old Seminole Heights is especially well-known for its abundance of classic bungalows, many dating from the early 20th century. Ride the trolleys or your bicycles through the tree-lined streets of this beautiful urban neighborhood. The neighborhood includes two National Register Historic Districts and one Local Historic District. Old Seminole Heights is extremely proud to be featured in the 2008 winter issue of American Bungalow Magazine.
