The Historic Hyde Park Neighborhood Association holds its 7th annual Home Tour on Saturday March 7th, 2009. Day-of-event tickets are available at Kate Jackson Park for $25. Advance-sale tickets are $20 through www.HistoricHomeTours.com or from selected local merchants throughout Tampa. The Tour begins at Kate Jackson Park, with homes open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Eight homes are on this year’s walking tour, featuring both classic bungalows from the historic period and excellent examples of new home in-fill in a historically sensitive district. Docents from the International Academy of Design and Technology will highlight architectural design elements at each home, and local caterers and restaurateurs will provide a progressive lunch.
Antique cars are making a first-time appearance at the Tour. The New Florida Region Model A Restorers Club of Tampa will display their beautifully restored cars at each home, enhancing the historic-period ambiance.
Also new this year, an Inaugural Patron’s Party kicks off the Tour on Friday, March 6th, at the roof garden of Seybold Lofts in Hyde Park. Mrs. Martha Ferman and Mr. R. James Robbins are chairpersons for this catered, invitation-only event. Patron’s Party tickets include admission to the Home Tour.
Proceeds from the tour and Patron’s Party benefit community projects and causes.
